About

Queens’ has a thriving Sixth Form with outstanding opportunities for all our students progressing from Year 11 as well as those who will join our Sixth Form community from elsewhere.

Queens' provides a challenging yet supportive learning environment offering a wide range of courses in the traditional academic disciplines required by top universities. In addition, we have established a Careers Academy working with businesses and a Sports Academy which enables gifted and talented students to benefit from high level coaching and performance opportunities.

We have a long-standing reputation for achieving high academic standards with most students progressing to their first choice university, including those within the Russell Group. In addition, a growing minority of students have progressed to higher and degree apprenticeships.

Sixth Form students are taught in small groups and supported to develop independence, leadership and self-directed learning. They are encouraged to read and study beyond subject specifications. We ensure all students are well prepared for university, further education and the world of work by providing careers and UCAS advice, interview practice, mentoring and academic tutoring. Students benefit from a designated Sixth Form Study Centre and cafe.

Our Sixth Form students are given opportunities to become student leaders and to volunteer so that they can take on responsibility and develop soft skills. Sixth Formers are great role models at Queens' and make a positive and active contribution to our community as captains, prefects and student volunteers.
